What is the Sacrament of Baptism?
Baptism is a rite of initation into the Catholic Church,
a welcoming of your child into the Christian family. -
Baptism for Children 0-6 Years of Age:
The Baptism Process here at St. Francis Catholic Church & School
1. Obtain and Submit Baptism Information Packet.You may download the baptism forms from this website or pick them up in the parish office. Complete the Baptism Registration Form and return it to the parish office. - Baptism Welcome Letter (see adjacent documents section)

2. Call the parish office at 503-625-6185 to inquire about Baptism.
3. The Baptism Coordinator will contact you and will go over the following:
- Verification of Required Forms
- Baptism Registration Form (see adjacent documents section)
- Godparent Information (see adjacent documents section)
- At least one godparent must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic
- Other witness can be a non-catholic as long as he/she has been baptized in a Christian church
- Baptismal Class – Parents and godparents are both asked to attend.
4. Completion of Pre-Baptismal Class.
Both parents and godparents should attend this class. The purpose of this class is to gain a fuller appreciation of the sacrament of Baptism and what it means to raise a child in the Catholic faith.5. Schedule date for Sacrament of Baptism.

6. Celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism
Will take place upon completion of the prebaptsimal class, receipt of the godparent's forms, and scheduled date of baptism.
Remeber to call or visit our Parish Office to inquire and start the baptism process
AT LEAST 6 MONTHS PRIOR to the date you would like to have your child baptized.
