A relic of St. Jude the Apostle to visit western Oregon!
August5,2024
A relic of the apostle St. Jude Thaddeus, held in Rome since ancient times, recently completed a tour of 100 American cities - the first time the relic has ever left Italy. That pilgrimage has now been extended to include eight locations in western Oregon!
Come and experience St. Jude's transformative presence and seek his powerful intercession.

WHO IS ST. JUDE THADDEUS, THE APOSTLE? St. Jude is also called Thaddeus to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot. Along with Simon, he likely belonged to the Zealots who opposed the Roman occupation, but his encounter with Christ led to his realization of the universality of God's love.
St. John reports St. Jude's question during the Last Supper: "Master, what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?" (John 14:22). Jesus indirectly answered: "Whoever loves me will keep my word." In the list of apostles, St. Jude is side by side with St. Simon, with tradition saying they died together spreading the Gospel in Persia-controlled Armenia.
St. Jude is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter emphasizes that the faithful should persevere through harsh and difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers did. As a result, he is the patron saint of desperate situations, desperate causes, hospital workers, hospitals, impossible causes, and lost causes.

Definition: Relics are "remains" associated with the Saints, either physical remnants like bones, hair, or coagulated blood, or objects that belonged to them, such as clothing or instruments of martyrdom. The term can also refer to objects that have come into contact with the primary relics.
Why Catholics Venerate Relics:
Theological Basis: According to the Council of Trent, the bodily relics of Martyrs and Saints are honored because they were the living members of Jesus Christ and temples of the Holy Spirit. They are destined to rise again and be glorified.
Purpose of Veneration: The veneration is directed towards the Saints themselves, acknowledging their souls, which now enjoy the beatific vision, and honoring God, who blessed them.
Graces and Benefits: The Church believes that relics can bestow spiritual benefits, such as forgiveness of sins and protection from adversity, upon those who honor them.
Testimony of Faith:Venerating relics is a testament to the belief in the resurrection of the body.
Miracles and Protections:Relics are believed to have the power to drive out demons, heal the sick, and bring other blessings to those who pray with faith.
